Things I'm actually into that aren't major related.
AI safety : i'm still trying to find my niche in AI safety, but I think it's an important cause, and I really like the people I've met so far in it. I'm currently exploring control, though I think I'll likely continue my fieldbuilding trajectory
Reading : being totally honest, I'm trying to rebuild this interest. I was an avid reader as a kid and then life got in the way and my attention span shortened. I'm working on fixing this one book at a time, but once I get into a book, it's really hard to focus on anything else
Imaginary vacations : I LOVE planning out vacations, even if I might not end up actually going on them. Shoutout Dilip for always encouraging me to actually go
Thrifting : partially because it's environmentally friendly, partially because I find new interesting clothes, and partially because it's cheap. If someone compliments a thrifted outfit, you best bet I'll let them know it was thrifted!
Recreating dishes : something my dad and I would always do, and I keep doing in my own kitchen. I find so my joy in unpacking the various flavors which come together in dishes
Singing : I love singing on my own, especially if there's a guitar, ukelele, or piano in reach. I can't play any of them well, but making up tunes is always fun. I've also classically trained in Western music since I was 12, but that feels pretentious to talk about even though I think it's really fun and also something cool I can do and have put time into
I don't think my resume describes me as a person very well; I'm creative, a people person (well I think my resume does get this part), and I like just doing things.
